Declan Fraser will not take part in Wednesday’s pre-season test in Sydney due to illness.

The Tickford Racing rookie shook down his #56 Ford Mustang for the first time last week.

The Queenslander got through the day despite suffering from tonsillitis.

However, Fraser — the 2022 Super2 champion — was later admitted to hospital.

The 22-tear-old received medical attention which included antibiotics and IV fluids.

Tickford confirmed Monday that doctors have recommended rest to ensure Fraser is fully recovered in time for the Thrifty Newcastle 500.

The Ford team’s enduro line-up — which has yet to be announced — will instead test the #56 Ford on Wednesday.

The all-in test on Wednesday will instead see the #56 be put through its paces by the Tickford enduro co-driver line up.

“Giving the co-drivers some extra time in the car early on is certainly not going to hurt,” Tickford CEO Tim Edwards said.

“We’ll have the added benefit of getting feedback and also gives them the chance to get to grips with the Gen3 a little earlier too.

"We’re focused on making some good out of an unfortunate situation.

“Declan is a fit young bloke and we’re confident he’ll be back, fighting fit and ready to go in no time.”

The 2023 Repco Supercars Championship will commence at the Thrifty Newcastle 500 on March 10-12.

Tickets are on sale on Supercars.com and Ticketek.com.
