An iconic partnership between team and sponsor will extend into a third decade.

Walkinshaw Andretti United has confirmed co-naming rights partner Mobil 1 will remain with the team.

Mobil 1 will will continue as a co-naming rights partner on both the #2 and #25 in 2022 and beyond.

The partnership began in 1994, some four years after the birth of the team under its Holden Racing Team guise.

Supercars set to shine bright under lights

Peter Brock and Tomas Mezera were driving for the team; back then, current drivers Nick Percat and Chaz Mostert were aged six and two.

In the 30 odd years since, team and partner combined for over 100 race wins, six drivers’ titles and seven Bathurst wins.

The latest Bathurst win came last December, with Mostert and Lee Holdsworth winning the 2021 Repco Bathurst 1000.

"Unequivocally, the partnership between Mobil 1 and Walkinshaw Andretti United is renowned in world motorsport," WAU team principal Bruce Stewart said.

"We are delighted and honoured to have the opportunity to continue into three decades together.

"It’s a partnership that runs much deeper than just a sponsorship, it’s a collaboration that we rely heavily upon to achieve our best possible results.

"To be entering year 29 of a partnership this year, and 30 in 2023 a testament to the trust, loyalty, and commitment of Mobil 1 to our team over the journey, and we can’t thank everyone involved enough.

"People see us as the Mobil 1 team, and that’s something we are very proud of. I can’t wait to see what we can continue to achieve together in the future.”

WAU will unveil its new-look 2022 cars in the coming weeks ahead of the Beaurepaires Sydney SuperNight.
