Cameron Hill was left wide-eyed by laps in different Commodores at a recent test day.

Hill impressed behind the wheel of the PremiAir ZB Commodore he’ll share with Chris Pither in Bathurst.

Last week, PremiAir Racing confirmed Super2 rookie Hill will make his Great Race debut with the team.

The Gold Coast-based squad held a test day at Queensland Raceway on Tuesday.

Hill got up to speed, matched and at times bettered Pither's pace, with Dylan O’Keeffe also joining James Golding on the day.

Matt Stone Racing also handed laps to co-drivers Jayden Ojeda and Matt Seton.

There, Hill sampled Pither’s Coca-Cola ZB Commodore on Soft tyres.

It was a stark contrast to his Super2 Triple Eight VF Commodore, which he also lapped on Tuesday.

Speaking to Supercars.com, Hill was pleased he managed to gel with Pither despite few laps in the #22 ZB.

"There are differences, but a lot of similarities," Hill said of the VF and ZB.

"We were on the Soft tyre, which was cool to experience for the first time.

"It was like my Super2 car, but turned up to 11. It was good to step into the ZB after spending most of the day in my VF.

"I took to it very quickly. It was about getting behind the wheel and making sure I was comfortable.

"Chris and I are pretty similar build, we just put my insert in from my Super2 car.

"What was good was when I jumped in, I had similar comments to Chris.

"We’re feeling the same thing, which is good."

The 2021 Carrera Cup champion, Hill has been ‘Mr Consistent’ in his first Super2 campaign.

The 25-year-old is second overall behind Triple Eight teammate Declan Fraser despite being winless.

Hill will race with Pither in Bathurst

Hill has overall podiums in two of three rounds, and heads to Sandown just 69 points from the lead.

The Canberran could force himself into the discussion for a 2023 main game seat should he and Fraser continue to impress.

PremiAir Racing looms as a key player in the 2023 silly season.

For now, Hill is determined on continuing his push for the Super2 crown at Sandown, which will also feature an Additional Driver session.

"For now, I'm focusing on Super2, and then making sure I’m best prepared for Bathurst as I can be," Hill said.

"The plan is to do some laps in Chris’s car at Sandown, which I’m looking forward to.

"We had a pretty busy schedule with my Super2 car on Tuesday, I was testing on the same day.

"The guys at PremiAir had a busy programme down their end too."

The 2022 Supercars and Super2 seasons will resume at Sandown on August 19-21. Purchase your tickets now.
