Stall on grid ends in chaos

Andre Heimgartner and Thomas Randle will undergo precautionary scans following their Race 22 crash.

Heimgartner hit a stationary Randle after the latter stalled on the grid at The Bend Motorsport Park.

Both drivers alighted from their cars, and the race was immediately suspended.

The race later restarted, sans Randle and Heimgartner, and was won by Shane van Gisbergen.

Nick Percat was also unable to make the restart after he sustained damage avoiding the errant Randle.

It was later confirmed that Heimgartner and Randle will be taken to Adelaide for precautionary scans.

Both drivers complained of chest pain, with Randle also noting heel discomfort.

They will not take to Sunday afternoon's Race 23, with the cars sustaining major damage.

"They're going to take him into hospital, he's got tenderness in the low abdomen," Brad Jones said.

"The feeling is he's okay, he got winded pretty bad.

"They're going to do a CT scan and check him out."

Speaking of the damage to the #8 R&J Batteries car, Jones said: "It's got a lot of damage, as you'd expect from from that sort of incident.

"We'll load it up on the truck, get the thing home as quickly as we can, pull it apart and make a decision on what we're going to do with it."

The OTR SuperSprint will conclude with Race 23 at 3:40pm local time.
