Heimgartner, Randle provide updates after 38g crash

Andre Heimgartner and Thomas Randle have both provided updates following their Race 22 crash.

The two drivers were sent to hospital for precautionary scans after the scary incident.

Randle stalled on the grid and was collected by Heimgartner, who started 14th.

Heimgartner hit Randle at approximately 120km/h.

Both drivers walked from their cars, albeit shaken.

The race was suspended and later restarted, with Shane van Gisbergen taking victory.

They were first taken to the circuit medical centre before being transported to hospital in Adelaide.

Both drivers complained of chest pain, with Randle also citing heel soreness.

They have since posted to social media, paying tribute to the strengths of their cars.

There, fellow drivers offered their messages to their colleagues.

"Wow that was a big one,” Heimgartner posted.

“Lucky to survive the 38g impact with no broken bones.

"Testament to the strength of our cars! Glad to see that @thomasrandle was okay.

"Thanks for the messages everyone, will recover and come back at Sandown.

Randle, who had qualified a career-best second, added: "Wow, that was a big one.

"Appreciate all the messages, I’m all good.

"Big thank you to @tickfordracing for building such a safe car.

"Glad that @andreheimgartner is okay as well.

“Sorry to everyone that we couldn’t show our potential today. We will come back stronger."

Heimgartner and Randle are set to revert to spare cars for Sandown.

The 2022 season will resume at the Penrite Oil Sandown SuperSprint next month.
