Andre Heimgartner says he is still feeling the effects of his monster start-line crash at The Bend.

Heimgartner suffered a major crash on July 31 in the first Sunday race of the OTR SuperSprint.

The Brad Jones Racing driver rear-ended the stalled Thomas Randle on the line.

The impact, estimated at over 120km/h, was recorded at 38g.

Both drivers were hospitalised and later discharged on the same day.

Randle will revert into a spare Tickford Racing chassis for next week's round at Sandown.

Heimgartner, meanwhile, will also race a spare BJR car, which has also been fitted with a spare engine.

Stall on grid ends in chaos

The Kiwi's car, chassis BJR 012, has been written off and will never see a race track again.

Heimgartner returned to the Supercars Eseries on Wednesday after a week off following his crash.

He finished sixth in the All Stars race, and said prior to the race that he was still battling with whiplash pain.

The 27-year-old expects to be fully fit for Sandown, but had to take painkillers to get through Wednesday night's race.

"Mainly all good now," Heimgartner said.

"I'll be 100 per cent by the time Sandown comes.

"I've been struggling with whiplash and a few other things.

"Even sitting here now, I've got a massive headache, I've smashed a lot of Nurofen.

"Overall doing pretty well, and shouldn't be any hinderance come Sandown."

Randle suffered heel soreness in the crash and didn't take part in Wednesday night's Eseries race.

The 2020 Super2 champion recently returned to Tickford headquarters for a seat fit.

There, Randle also surveyed the damaged chassis, which has since been taken away to be repaired.

Tickford is hopeful of returning the car to the grid this season.

Heimgartner is ninth in the championship heading to next weekend's round, with Randle 23rd.
