Todd Hazelwood has labelled his Practice 4 accident as “pretty disappointing”.

The Matt Stone Racing driver became the first major casualty of the main game field in Bathurst.

The rain arrived for Practice 4, and Hazelwood found the tyre barriers at Griffin’s Bend.

The incident saw the session suspended with 13 minutes on the clock.

Hazelwood tried to reverse out of the barriers, but was unable to dislodge his car.

MSR is now racing the clock to repair the car in time for ARMOR ALL Qualifying.

It’s the same story for Will Brown, who crashed heavily at Reid Park with 13 minutes left.

“It wasn’t too bad, I was pretty comfortable,” he said after returning the the garage.

“Just pinched a left front wheel, and couldn’t get it unlocked.

“I was basically waiting for the impact at that point.

“It was pretty disappointing, the Truck Assist Commodore had some good pace in the wet.

“I normally go pretty well in the wet as well.”

Hazelwood was one of several drivers to strike trouble in what was the first wet session of the weekend.

The first three sessions had been run in dry conditions, but the rain arrived following Practice 3.

Andre Heimgartner (The Chase) and Tim Slade (The Dipper) found trouble as Hazelwood crashed.

The session was suspended for a second time when Macauley Jones lost control at The Chase.

Tony D’Alberto, Cameron Hill, Jake Kostecki and Craig Lowndes also struck trouble at pit entry.

An accident for Brown on the run to Reid Park in the closing minutes suspended the session for a third time.

The session was declared with five minutes remaining, with Shane van Gisbergen the pace-setter.

“Hopefully we can get it repaired in time for the all-important quali session this afternoon,” Hazelwood added.

“Mainly looks cosmetic, but we’ll have to have a look underneath to see if there’s any other major damage.”

ARMOR ALL Qualifying is scheduled to commence at 4:15pm local time.
