The South Australian State Government is partnering with the Get Home Safe Foundation and Todd Hazelwood to urge racegoers to stay safe on the road ahead of the VALO Adelaide 500.

For the first time in nearly three years, Supercars will return to the streets of Adelaide for 500-kilometres of racing across December 1-4. Tickets are on sale now.

Seven days out from the Repco Supercars Championship season finale, Adelaide-born Hazelwood has helped to launch the ‘What Happens On The Track, Stays On The Track. Keep It Off The Road’ campaign.

The road safety campaign is aimed at reducing the number and severity of road crashes during the race period.

Joined by GHSF director Darren Davis and crash survivor Eli Murn, Hazelwood is reminding fans to take care on the roads and to leave the risk-taking to the professionals.

“I’m super excited for the return of the VALO Adelaide 500,” Hazelwood said.

“But it’s important not to get caught up in the race and continue to drive safely on our roads.

“That’s why I’ve partnered up with THINK! Road Safety and the Get Home Safe Foundation to help spread the message of ‘What Happens On The Track, Stays On The Track. Keep It Off The Road’.

“Remember there is no place for illegal street racing on our roads.

“Most importantly, enjoy the event, have fun and remember to think road safety.”

It comes as Hazelwood prepares for his final round with Matt Stone Racing, with the 27-year-old confirmed to drive for the Blanchard Racing Team in 2023.

All VALO Adelaide 500 ticket holders are encouraged to leave their cars at home, with free travel on all Adelaide Metro bus, train and tram services throughout the four days of the event.

A dedicated CBD Shuttle will also operate from approximately 9am to 11pm ACDT each day, including key gates around the circuit to the Adelaide Railway Station.

Supercars will be on track alongside five premier support categories; Dunlop Super2 Series, Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia Powered by AWS, Gulf Western Oil Touring Car Masters, Battery World Aussie Racing Cars Super Series and the S5000 Tasman Series.

The entertainment line-up is packed like never before, with three headline music acts performing over three huge nights of entertainment at the VALO Adelaide 500. Tickets are on sale now.
