Todd Hazelwood was "devastated" to see teammate Jack Le Brocq toil through a miserable Tasmania weekend.

Hazelwood impressed at Symmons Plains with finishes of 10th, 10th and fifth.

Conversely, Matt Stone Racing teammate Le Brocq had a shocker, failing to finish two races.

Le Brocq was an early DNF in Saturday's race, and suffered a major accident in Sunday's opener.

MSR managed to repair the #34 Truck Assist entry for Race 5, in which Le Brocq was set to launch from a career-best second.

Le Brocq led the opening lap, but ran long at the Turn 4 hairpin and dropped to the back. He would finish 23rd.

Speaking to Supercars.com after the race, Hazelwood felt for his teammate.

"It's devastating for Jack," Hazelwood said.

"He had some really good speed, but didn't have the results to prove it.

"From a team point of view, we had some really good results; for me, two top 10s and a fifth.

"Looking back, my results could have been better too, so that's a really good sign for the team.

"It's a great reward for everyone too, because they've worked tremendously hard."

The season began with incidents for both Hazelwood and Le Brocq in Sydney.

Hazelwood infamously clashed after the chequered flag with Mark Winterbottom, with Le Brocq roughing up Broc Feeney.

Come Tasmania, and MSR's two drivers continued to make waves at the pointy end.

For Hazelwood, the focus is now on ensuring the Symmons speed is no fluke, and converting pace into results.

"You're only as good as your last race," Hazelwood said.

"We'll keep chipping away; we don't want to make this weekend a fluke.

"We need to keep our heads down, work hard and we'll be rewarded.

"We had a Truck Assist car leading a race. Not many teams said they led a race this weekend.

"We have to thrive off the positives of this weekend and take our chances in future."

Hazelwood is 11th in the championship, with Le Brocq 24th.

The 2022 season will resume in Melbourne across April 7-10.
