James Golding has taken his first ever Dunlop Series race win after pouncing from the start in the second sprint at Phillip Island.

Another discovery of Garry Rogers, Golding impressed with speed last year and today turned that pace into points at the fast, flowing circuit, leading Garry Jacobson home by 3.5966 seconds.

Golding was last week’s Dunlop Young Gun and after telling his story has secured the result he has been pushing for.

Brad Jones Racing’s Andrew Jones followed the pair home in what was a reasonably clean 16 laps for the Dunlop Series.

There was more bad luck for Dan Day, off at Lukey Heights, Golding’s teammate Richard Muscat ran wide on lap four and a post-race investigation will be carried out after a clash between Bryce Fullwood and Todd Hazelwood.

Yesterday’s pole man Jack Le Brocq recovered to finish fourth, with veteran Paul Dumbrell behind him.
