Gen3 prototype testing has shifted to the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit.

The Gen3 prototypes have commenced two days of testing at the sweeping Victorian circuit.

The testing comes a day after the cars were on site at the Beaurepaires Melbourne 400.

The Gen3 prototypes were on display in the Supercars paddock for the entirety of the weekend.

The bosses of Ford and General Motors' respective Australian arms were both treated to hot laps.

The historic Phillip Island venue becomes the fifth circuit Gen3 prototypes have been lapped.

Prior to the running at Albert Park, the cars had lapped Mount Panorama, Queensland Raceway and Symmons Plains.

Phillip Island provides an ideal setting for aerodynamic development-style testing thanks to its high-speed corners and long straights.

It's a far cry from the likes of Symmons Plains, where Garth Tander and Marcos Ambrose conducted the lion's share of the running on the weekend.

The cars were then handed to a number of current full-timers, who were impressed by the changes to the cars.

The Phillip Island test will be centred on mileage, although the engines and brake package are also under the microscope.

Critically, aero balance will be studied, with Phillip Island the first genuinely fast circuit the cars will be tested at.

Six drivers are getting their first taste of Gen3 machinery at Phillip Island.

Brad Jones Racing duo Andre Heimgartner and Macauley Jones have sampled the Camaro.

Tickford Racing duo Thomas Randle and Jake Kostecki are driving the Mustang.

Team 18 driver Scott Pye and PremiAir Racing driver Garry Jacobson will test the Camaro on Tuesday.

The two drivers who have previously tested a Gen3 car, Will Davison and Anton De Pasquale, will be in action on Tuesday in the Mustang.

The 2022 season will resume in Perth later this month.
