Gen3 demonstrations are set to feature at every event in the 2022 Repco Supercars Championship.

Supercars officially confirmed Wednesday that the introduction of the Gen3 program will be delayed to the opening event of 2023.

The Gen3 cars will be revealed to the public during this year's Repco Bathurst 1000.

The cars will be unveiled on Friday December 3, two days before the 64th running of the Great Race at Mount Panorama.

However, Supercars CEO Sean Seamer says the Gen3 delay to 2023 won't stop fans from being able to see the new cars on track next year.

"While this is a delay to the introduction of the racing it’s certainly not going delay getting the cars in front of the public," Seamer explained.

"We are going to be revealing the Mustang and the Camaro at Bathurst, on the Friday this year.

How fans can get early Gen3 glimpse

"Then we will make sure that those cars are with us every round next year conducting demonstration laps and getting people as close to the new cars as possible."

Ongoing challenges with international supply chains and domestic disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic were cited as major reasons behind Gen3's delay.

It comes ahead of a jam-packed to 2021, with four Sydney events and the Bathurst 1000 to take the season into December.

"It's unfortunate because that this is a few factors outside of their control," Seamer explained.

"The first thing that is a real challenge is that the teams that are responsible for building the cars now have a very onerous run in to the end of the season this year.

"They are going to be on the road from the end of this month, right up until Christmas when they go back to Queensland.

"That takes them out of action and not able to do as much testing on the new cars as we would like, because we have to prioritise this season, and then going forward into next year.

"The further development of the vehicles is still a challenge given global supply issues."

The 2021 season will resume at Sydney Motorsport Park later this month for the first of four consecutive weekends of racing.

Tickets for all four events of the Beaurepaires Sydney Cup are now on sale.

The Repco Bathurst 1000 will run over six days at Mount Panorama as the final event of the 2021 season.

The historic first will see Mount Panorama host six days of on-track entertainment and racing between November 30 and December 5.

"Everybody just wants us to get back on track and three and a half months I think has been a really long time for us as well," Seamer said.

Why fans are going to love Gen3

"My team is itching to get back out there, and the response from the fans is pretty similar.

"Let's all look forward to finale at Bathurst this December as well.

"We've been able to work with ARG to put together a six-day event which essentially by our records is the biggest ever motorsport event in Australia, and the biggest Bathurst 1000, as well.

"There's six days of racing for fans, for the very first time and a multitude of different categories.

"It's something for everybody, and after a pretty average year for everybody in Australia, especially those in motorsport it's a good way to cap off a difficult year."

The 2021 Repco Supercars Championship will resume with the Bunnings Trade Sydney SuperSprint on October 29.

Tickets for all four upcoming Sydney events are on sale now.
