Returning to the Northern Territory will carry extra meaning for Bryce Fullwood this year.

The Repco Supercars Championship heads to Hidden Valley Raceway this June for the Merlin Darwin Triple Crown.

Fullwood, the only Territorian on the grid, will be present for a significant family event: his father’s 50th birthday.

The hometown event is a highlight of the calendar for Fullwood, who is eager to celebrate the family milestone.

"I’m going to stay on for a week after Darwin," Fullwood told the Supercars’ Cool Down Lap podcast.

"It’s my dad’s 50th birthday over the race weekend.

"The weekend after is going to be a fairly big weekend for him.

"I've got a lot of friends coming up that are going to come to the races and then also to his big birthday bash.

"That will be pretty good fun as I don't get up there that much anymore."

It comes as Fullwood continues what has proved a challenging start to life at Brad Jones Racing.

The 24-year-old recorded finishes of 20th, 21st, and 23rd at last weekend’s Pizza Hut Winton SuperSprint.

His season-best result of 12th came at Sydney Motorsport Park in March.

"We are definitely still on the learning curve for Phil [Keed, race engineer] and I with the car,” Fullwood said.

"Definitely still another challenging weekend for us, I feel like it's the school of hard knocks for us at the moment.

"But it'll certainly make the good times sweet, that's for sure."

The 2022 season will resume in Darwin next month. Purchase your tickets now.
