Bryce Fullwood was delighted to secure a top five finish in his final Walkinshaw Andretti United start.

Fullwood and Warren Luff combined to finish fifth behind teammates and winners Chaz Mostert and Lee Holdsworth.

Mostert and Holdsworth helped the team to its first Bathurst win since 2011.

Fullwood will shift to Brad Jones Racing in 2022, with Nick Percat to take his place.

It was a stark contrast to the Darwin-born driver’s first three Bathurst results of 20th, DNF and DNF.

Having gone through four rounds of toil at Sydney Motorsport Park, Fullwood was relieved to bring home a strong result.

“We had a pretty tough four rounds at Sydney,” he said.

“Everyone one in the team, all the boys and girls at the track or at home, slogged it out really hard for us.

“I’m super stoked to finish off with the team with a top five, and to see Chazzy and Lee take home the big trophy.”

Fullwood survived a late clash with eventual third place man Brodie Kostecki to finish fifth; he was sixth in the closing laps before Shane van Gisbergen suffered a puncture.

Luff, meanwhile, recorded his ninth top 10 finish in the Great Race in his last 12 starts.

The team handed Fullwood his 2020 Tailem Bend trophy

“It was an awesome day,” the 23-year-old said.

“[Chaz and Lee] were an awesome combination coming into this weekend.

"They were fastest in the practice sessions, the car rolled out of the truck fast, they’ve had an awesome weekend.

“I couldn’t be more happy for them. They deserve every bit of it.”

The 13-event 2022 Repco Supercars Championship will commence in Newcastle next year. Tickets for the event are on sale now.

The 13-round draft calendar was released on Sunday.
