Motorsport fans are being encouraged to use the G:link to travel to the Castrol Gold Coast 600 next weekend, with free public transport providing the perfect way to get to and from the race safely.

GoldlinQ (G:link) CEO Phil Mumford made the announcement at Main Beach G:link station this morning, and was joined by Supercars Championship driver Tim Slade.

Castrol Gold Coast 600 Event Manager Melissa Stephens said ticket holders are once again getting even more value from their ticket to the glitter strip’s most anticipated event.

“After a fantastic response last year, ticket holders will once again be able to enjoy FREE public transport to and from the Gold Coast’s biggest party next weekend,” said Ms Stephens.

“Almost 170,000 trips were recorded across the race weekend last year. We’re expecting this figure to increase even further in 2016, with the light rail providing the most convenient way to travel to and from the event.

“With free travel on the G:link, buses and trains included in the ticket cost, the Castrol Gold Coast 600 offers sensational value for money.” she said.

GoldlinQ (G:link) CEO Phil Mumford said services would be running around the clock throughout the race weekend, from Friday, 21 October until Sunday 23 October.

“Trams will run every 7.5 minutes on Saturday and Sunday with additional services on Friday and Saturday night to coincide with the popular 600 Sounds concerts at the Broadwater Parklands,” he said.

“There will be trams every 6.5 minutes at peak periods and services will continue to run to the regular weekend timetable throughout the night to ensure everybody can make the most of the weekend.

“What’s better, race goers won’t miss a minute of action as they will be dropped right at the gates to the event - at Main Beach station or Surfers Paradise North station.”

Tickets to the Supercars’ Castrol Gold Coast 600 are available through ticketek.com.au

Race goers must have their event ticket on display to enjoy free travel on public transport. To plan your journey, go to www.translink.com.au journey planner and choose GC600 as your destination.
