Everingham was penalised over a Turn 4 clash with Garry Hill on lap 11.

The MW Motorsport driver was hit with a 15-second penalty, with late Safety Cars ruining his race.

It was a nightmare race for Matt Payne, who was penalised over a clash with Matt Chahda.

The action began at the very first corner, with Jim Pollicina clashing with Blake Fardell.

The Safety Car was called for a first time, with Everingham leading the field at the lap 3 restart.

Cameron Hill was sent into a spin at Turn 4 as Jay Robotham and Zak Best battled behind.

Later around the lap, Aaron Seton ran into the sand trap at Turn 9, and escaped.

Payne was already fighting from behind, having lost his pole position.

The Grove junior made a desperate lunge on Chahda at Turn 11, and sent the #18 Ford into a spin.

Dean Fiore, Best and Fraser benefited from the melee, with Payne crawling to a near halt in a car full of mud.

The race was declared wet on lap 10, and drivers began to tip-toe around the 3.1km circuit.

Everingham's race flipped on its head once he encountered Super3 runner Hill at Turn 2.

The leader sent Hill into a spin and into the tyre barriers, and incurred front splitter damage.

Fiore bowled a wide at Turn 9, and Best and Fraser sailed through.

Everingham takes the flag

At the time, Everingham hadn't received his penalty; Best made an error at Turn 1, and handed track position to Fraser.

It proved race-deciding, with dual Safety Car interventions ending the race two laps early.

The second Safety Car was called after Chris Smerdon went off at Turn 9, before Strong stopped on the front straight.

Fraser was classified the winner ahead of Best and Fiore, with Jaylyn Robotham and Angelo Mouzouris fourth and fifth.

Chahda recovered to sixth ahead of Matt McLean, Zane Morse, Ryal Harris and Hanson.

Kai Allen took Super3 honours ahead of Brad Vaughan and Ray Hislop.

Fraser will carry an extended 153-point lead over Best into Sunday, with Hill dropping to third.

Payne, who led the points to the Sunday in Townsville, is now 210 points behind Fraser in fifth.

Cars will return to the track on Sunday with qualifying at 10:15am local time.
