Forecast wet weather forces QR testing shift

Queensland-based teams will test later this week due to forecast wet weather.

Gen3 testing will shift to another gear this week, with the majority of teams confirmed to complete running.

Erebus Motorsport and Tickford Racing are testing at Winton Motor Raceway on Monday, and will return on Wednesday.

Team 18 and Brad Jones Racing will also test their new cars at Winton later this week.

Blanchard Racing Team and Penrite Racing also tested at the Benalla circuit last week; the former now has two test days under its belt.

Dick Johnson Racing, Matt Stone Racing and PremiAir Racing were set to test at Queensland Raceway on Tuesday February 14.

However, the threat of wet weather has seen teams opt for a morning test session two days later on Thursday February 16.

Thursday’s running is open to the public.

Triple Eight, PremiAir test new Gen3 cars

As of midday Monday February 13, there is a 95 per cent chance of showers, along with a severe chance of a thunderstorm.

DJR, MSR and PremiAir tested their first Gen3 cars last week, as did Triple Eight.

Triple Eight confirmed Monday that it had postponed its Tuesday February 14 test.

The Red Bull Ampol Camaros will test at Queensland Raceway later this month on an as yet unconfirmed date.

The champion squad’s next running will be at the all-in Sydney Motorsport Park test on Wednesday February 22.

The 2023 Repco Supercars Championship will commence in Newcastle on March 10-12.
