David Wall has suffered a flat tyre on the right front of his DJR Falcon, and triggered a red flag in the first practice session of the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.

"I thought it was something mechanically, so I was idling back to the pits," Wall told v8supercars.com.au after returning to pit lane.

"I had other cars coming up behind me, so I moved to the left - I was actually talking to the radio, just talking away and clack, clack, clack, bang! Just turned left.

"Tyre just hopped off in a straight line, I was just idling back."

The incident happened just before the Chase and there is some damage to the front right and rear of the car.

Wall's best time was a 2min12.92, while the quickest with about 10 minutes to go in the session is David Reynolds with a 2min08.87.

Steven Johnson is planned to jump in the car for the upcoming co-driver only practice session.
