The 2022 Repco Supercars Championship has kicked off with a pole position first.

Five different drivers have taken the first five ARMOR ALL Pole Positions of the season.

It’s the first time in the history of the ATCC/Supercars Championship that this has happened.

Anton De Pasquale and Brodie Kostecki split the poles at the Beaurepaires Sydney SuperNight.

In Tasmania last weekend, Cam Waters, Shane van Gisbergen and Will Davison shared the poles.

That streak could well continue at Albert Park considering the calibre of drivers who haven’t taken a pole in 2022.

That includes Chaz Mostert, Will Brown, Nick Percat, David Reynolds and Tim Slade.

Mostert and Mark Winterbottom are also previous pole-sitters at Albert Park.

Only two drivers have qualified in the top 10 for all five races held so far in 2022.

One is a veteran in Will Davison, and the other is a rookie in Broc Feeney.

The pole streak doesn’t just end there; dating back to Sydney last November, seven different drivers have taken the last seven poles.

The last time a streak like this happened was from the final round of 2015 to the third round of 2016.

In that sequence, there were eight different pole-sitters in a row; Jamie Whincup, James Courtney (2015), Scott Pye, Chaz Mostert, Fabian Coulthard, Mark Winterbottom, Will Davison and Scott McLaughlin (2016).

Will a record-breaking five be extended to six at Albert Park?

Find out at the Beaurepaires Melbourne 400 on April 7-10.
