Dean Fiore will be behind the wheel of a V8 Supercar at his home event in Perth -this year, in the Dunlop Series.

Unable to find the right full-time seat for 2014, Fiore has signed on as a Norton Hornet Nissan co-driver for the Pirtek Enduro Cup later this year, and is looking forward to the chance for some miles around Barbagallo Raceway next weekend.

The 30-year old has gained support for an additional round, meaning he'll also be behind the wheel at the Castrol Townsville 500 from July 4-6.

He receives backing from local dealer Titan Ford for Perth, with Mackay business and long-time sponsor R&T Pumps behind Fiore for Townsville.

"Just those two rounds will be perfect as a lead-up to the enduros for me," Fiore told v8supercars.com.au.

"It's all pretty chilled for me -I'm not going in there to set the world on fire, I'm just going in there to stay sharp."

Team boss Matthew White believes having a hometown favourite behind the wheel will draw some positive attention in Western Australia, as Fiore stacks up against a number of other Pirtek Enduro Cup co-drivers in the Dunlop Series field.

"Obviously he's pretty keen to get some miles up and being a local round for him it makes a lot of sense from his point of view. And from our point of view it's good to get someone with some solid experience in," White told v8supercars.com.au.

"Dean's been around the sport for a long time and being a local, hopefully it will pull a good crowd and generate some interest."

Fiore has had an opportunity to drive the car prior to racing and is excited about working with the team.

"I drove Matty's car at Winton not too long ago and it was a really nice thing to drive. Matt's a good guy and I'm looking forward to working with him," he said.

Steve Owen contested the last event in the #27 Ford Falcon and White praised his performance with the team.

The Dunlop Series is just one of the great support categories running at the Perth 400 from May 16-18, with the V8 Utes, Aussie Race Cars, Super GT and Historic Touring Car categories also running at Barbagallo Raceway.Tickets are available now for the event.
