At age 20, Broc Feeney has reset the record books with ARMOR ALL Pole Position for the Beaurepaires Melbourne SuperSprint finale.

Feeney scored his maiden Supercars pole with the fastest time in Race 6 qualifying at Albert Park.

In an enthralling final Melbourne qualifying session, Feeney pipped points leader Chaz Mostert by 0.1899s in the 15-minute session.

At 20 years, five months and 14 days, Feeney achieved the feat in record time.

The Queenslander beats the previous record — set by wildcard Zak Best in 2022 — by four months.

Best was aged 20 years, nine months and 19 days when he scored a shock pole at The Bend Motorsport Park last July.

The Victorian pipped Shane van Gisbergen that day, and also took a record away from Scott McLaughlin.

Best shocked Supercars last year

McLaughlin was aged 20 years, nine months and 27 days when he scored his first career pole at Winton.

In 2014, McLaughlin claimed his maiden ARMOR ALL Pole Position at Winton.

It was is first of 10 poles in 2014, coming a year after he won at Pukekohe as a teenager.

The three-time Supercars champion, now an IndyCar driver, still holds the youngest-ever race winner record.

The Kiwi was aged 19 years, 10 months and three days when he won on home soil in April 2013.

For Feeney, the pole came for his 46th race start, having broken through for victory No. 1 on the streets of Adelaide last December.

It came after Feeney qualified 22nd for Saturday’s race, having been caught out by a red flag.

McLaughlin is still the youngest winner

“Man, the highs and lows — 22nd, and then first,” an elated Feeney said.

“I was pretty fired up in between the sessions. It’s about time, I’ve been so close so many times.

“Just credit to the team, the timing was perfect, I nearly stuck it in the fence on that last lap then.

“Crazy conditions… I was fired up, I was screaming at the top of my lungs when the red flag came out.

“I knew we were going to be down the back. I knew we could do out, we just had to do our thing.

“It’s going to be a hard one this arvo, but we’ll work our way forward and fingers crossed for tomorrow."

Saturday’s 13-lap Race 5 will commence at 5:30pm local time.
