V8 Supercars CEO James Warburton has paid tribute to Australian motor sport magazine Auto Action as it prepares for its final edition this week.

"Auto Action has been an important voice in motor sport and, in particular, Australian touring car racing for 45 years," he said.

"Like thousands of other Australians, I grew up reading Auto Action and it's been a must read for fans and a great advocate of our sport. It's also been a fantastic breeding ground for many journalists and photographers in Australian motor sport.

"It has always attracted a passionate and loyal following from fans who care deeply about the sport and give us important feedback.

"To everyone associated with Auto Action over its long history, including current editor Rob Margeit, congratulations on everything you have achieved and thank you for your contribution to the sport.

"I will be sorry to farewell Auto Action this week but hope it may return in some shape or form in the future. We can't afford to lose voices like Auto Action in our sport and important opportunities it provides for our industry."
