Fans share 'incredible' hot lap with van Gisbergen

Three Red Bull Ampol Racing fans have shared their excitement following a hot lap with championship leader Shane van Gisbergen.

The Triple Eight ride day was held at Queensland Raceway on Tuesday, with van Gisbergen, Jamie Whincup and Craig Lowndes completing around 300 joy rides for fans and members.

Dunlop Super2 Series leader Broc Feeney also joined his main game teammates to treat fans at the Ipswich circuit.

Brisbane local Michelle Reid celebrated an important personal milestone with her first hot lap.  

“The experience was absolutely incredible,” Reid told Supercars.com

“A massive bucket list item for me as well as my 50th birthday present, so doubly special.”

“The ‘Giz’ was a legend in the car too.”

Lisa Smith also received a high octane fix with the 2016 champion, shared a photo to the ‘888 Red Bull Army’ Facebook page overnight.

“The best two minutes ever,” Smith said.

“Ecstatic to have got to be in the car with my star Gizzy.”

Taylor Hampson clocked up her second ride day with the Brisbane-based squad, taking her father along to share the experience.

“It was my second ride day with the Bulls,” Hampson said.

“It blows my mind every time, such an unreal experience, and how awesome being in a car with the championship leader.”

Each passenger received a video memento of their hot lap, with Lowndes taking time to sign autographs while fans were waiting.
