The Repco Supercars Championship returns to South Australia for this weekend’s 13th round of the 2022 season – the VALO Adelaide 500.

The Adelaide streets will host Supercars for the first time since 2020, featuring dual 250km races. Tickets are on sale now.

The entertainment will flow across all four days, including some of the best off-track displays the event has ever seen. 

Supercars.com has listed some answers to key questions about the event.

Top 5 to watch in Adelaide

Schedule

The season-ending VALO Adelaide 500 will be a four-day event held from December 1-4.

Support categories will hit the track from 8:35am ACDT on Thursday December 1, with action running through until the end of the weekend. Check the track schedule here.

Supercars will be on track alongside four premier support categories: Dunlop Series, GT World Challenge, S5000, Aussie Racing Cars and Touring Car Masters.

Supercars will stage its opening practice session on Thursday December 1 at 3.55pm local time. Practice 2 will commence at 1.15pm on Friday.

ARMOR ALL Qualifying for Race 33 will commence at 5:35pm local time on Friday December 2.

The fan-favourite ARMOR ALL Top Ten Shootout will begin at 12:35pm on Saturday December 3.

The Shootout will set the grid for the opening 78-lap race, which will start at 3.15pm ACDT on Saturday afternoon.

Sunday’s action begins at 8.40am ACDT, with GT World Challenge hitting the track before Supercars ARMOR ALL Qualifying for Race 34 kicks off at 11.00am local time.

Sunday’s ARMOR ALL Top 10 Shootout will be begin at 12.05pm ACDT, leading into Supercars final 78-lap race commencing at 2.45pm local time.

Attending the event

Event organisers encourage attendees to stay COVID Safe by washing their hands as often as possible.

Fans will be free to view all of the action from around the 2.9km circuit, with plenty of vantage points. Check the track map here.

As the action on the track draws to a close, the action off the track revs up with some of Australia’s and the world’s biggest acts taking to the stage in the scenic surrounds of the Adelaide parklands.

This year’s concert line-up will see more star power than ever before, with 10 major names across three huge nights of blockbuster entertainment.

Lime Cordiale, The Presets, Baker Boy and Teenage Joans will set Adelaide alight on Friday night.

Saturday December 3, the first race day of the weekend, will feature a legendary all-Australian line-up, with ARIA Hall of Famers Jimmy Barnes and Icehouse joined by Noiseworks.

US rock band royalty The Killers will headline the Sunday night concert.

On track entertainment includes the world-renowned stunt king, Matt Mingay and the Hot Wheels Stunt Team performing drift and bike demonstrations, and performances by some of Australia’s top gravity-defying stunt riders from AirTime FMX.

Off track entertainment includes Airtime BMX, VALO Adelaide 500 Adrenaline Zone including Nerf Battlezone, Port Adelaide Football Club Activation and trackside Putt Putt course.

The broader entertainment package will include merchandise alley, and food and beverage facilities.

TV times

The VALO Adelaide 500 event will be broadcast live on Foxtel (Fox Sports 503) and streamed on Kayo across December 1-4.

Thursday’s broadcast will commence at 1.15pm ACDT/ 1.45pm AEST on Foxtel, with the GT World Challenge kicking off the broadcast.

Biggest ever Adelaide 500 crashes

Friday’s coverage will begin on Fox Sports channel 506 at 8.45am ACDT/ 9.15am AEDT with Dunlop Series ARMOR ALL qualifying beginning at 12.30pm local time/ 1.00pm AEDT.

Fox Sports Saturday’s coverage will begin on Fox Sports channel 506 at 9.00am ACDT, and Sunday’s broadcast commences at 8.35am ACDT.

Seven's broadcast will kick off at 12.30pm ACDT/1.00pm AEDT on Saturday December 3 on Channel 7mate.

Sunday’s coverage from South Australia starts at 12.00pm ACDT/12.30pm AEDT on Channel 7mate and will include Supercars final race on the streets of Adelaide.

Concert viewing

There is an unshaded accessibility viewing platform at the concert site for concert viewing from 5:30pm. This is available on a first come, first served basis.

Please note: all accessibility platforms allow for 1 x accompanying carer with each patron included in their ticket price.

Public transport

VALO Adelaide 500 ticket holders can travel free-of-charge to the event on any Adelaide Metro bus, tram or train service over all four days of the event.

Simply show your VALO Adelaide 500 ticket (valid for that relevant day) and catch a free ride. Those aged under 12 years receive free entry to the track and so will not need to present a ticket when boarding.

Dedicated CBD Shuttle

A dedicated CBD Shuttle will operate from approximately 9am to 11pm each day, servicing a route including key gates around the circuit then looping to the Adelaide Railway Station. Dedicated O-Bahn shuttles will also operate frequently during the VALO Adelaide 500.

Accessible Viewing Facilities 

T14 Hairpin West is a shaded accessibility platform available as a four-day ticket only. Ticket price is $299 adult / $269 concession.  

Turn 1 Chicane is a shaded platform available as both a four-day and single day ticket. Ticket prices are $299 Adult / $269 concession for four days or $169 Adult / $155 concession for a single day.

Dedicated accessibility viewing platforms are attended by volunteers throughout the event and allow access to those patrons and one (1) companion.

The nearest accessibility marked carpark access is the public car park entry off Fullarton Road just south of Gate 10, or Car Park A entry via Gate 1A off East Terrace.

Car Park A requires a vehicle pass – patrons should email [email protected] to request.

General Admission

There is a reserved accessibility viewing area on Brock Straight.

This area is available on a first come, first served basis with chairs available for accompanying carers.

Nearest accessibility marked carpark access is on Dequetteville Terrace with entry via Gate 7.

General Admission areas are all mobility-friendly with track crossings located near each of the overpasses that operate at regular intervals, as well as a tunnel that goes under the track near the chicane.

There are also gravel/bitumen pathways from the gates through the various event areas to the grandstands and platforms.

Cars will hit the track for Practice 1 at 3:55pm local time/4:25pm AEDT on Thursday.
