The Repco Supercars Championship returns to Surfers Paradise for this weekend’s twelfth round of the 2022 season – the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500.

The Surfers streets will host Supercars for the first time since 2019, featuring dual 250km races. Tickets are on sale now.

The entertainment will flow across all three days, including some of the best off-track displays the event has ever seen. 

With just two days until the cars hit the track for Practice 1 on the Gold Coast, Supercars.com has listed some answers to key questions ahead of the event.

Schedule

The Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 will be a three-day event held from October 28 – 30.

Support categories will hit the track from 10:30am AEST on Friday October 28, with action running through until the end of the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500. Check the track schedule here.

Supercars will be on track alongside three premier support categories; the Porsche Carrera Cup, V8 SuperUtes and S5000.

Supercars will stage its opening practice session on Friday October 28 at 12:35pm local time. Practice 2 will commence at 3.15pm AEST on Friday.

ARMOR ALL Qualifying for Race 31 will commence at 11:25am local time on Saturday October 29.

The fan-favourite Top Ten Shootout will begin at 1:05pm on Saturday October 29.

Top 5 to watch on the Gold Coast

The shootout will set the grid for the opening 85-lap race, which will start at 3.45pm AEST on Saturday afternoon.

Sunday’s action begins at 8.0am AEST, with S5000, Porsche Carrera Cup, and V8 SuperUtes hitting the track before Supercars ARMOR ALL Qualifying for Race 32 kicks off at 9.55am AEST.

Sunday’s ARMOR ALL Top 10 Shootout will be begin at 11.35am AEST, leading into Supercars final 86-lap race commencing at 2.15pm local time.

Attending the event

Event organisers encourage attendees to stay COVID Safe by washing their hands as often as possible.

Fans will be free to view all of the action from around the 2.9km circuit, with plenty of vantage points. Check the track map here.

This year’s Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 will take on a music festival vibe, with more bars, entertainment, and huge music acts than ever before.

The Boost Mobile Club 500 is back for the Surfers Paradise event and will host three massive nights of music performances. 

For fans aged 18 and over, the event will see some of Australia’s hottest DJs and international stars take to the Club 500 stage on Macintosh Island on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening of October’s event, headlined by Bliss N Eso, Carl Cox & Eric Powell’s Mobile Disco and Sneaky Sound System.

Entertainment is included in your same day event ticket.

On-track entertainment includes Hot Wheels Stunt Team performing drift and bike demonstrations, Showtime Entertainment and Airtime FMX. 

Off-track entertainment includes Airtime FMX and BMX in Ferny Avenue, Jet ski, fly board and wakeboarding in the Nerang River, and Boost Mobile FMX Stunt Team at the beach area.

Trackside, fans will also be able to enjoy the Supercars Family Zone, merchandise alley, and food and beverage facilities.

TV times

The Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 event will be broadcast live on Foxtel (Fox Sports 503) and streamed on Kayo across October 28-30.

Friday’s broadcast will commence at 11.30am AEST on Foxtel, with the PIRTEK Pit Stop Challenge kicking off the coverage.

Jet pack fireworks to light up Gold Coast

Fox Sports Saturday’s coverage will begin on Fox Sports channel 506 at 9.15am AEST, and Sunday’s broadcast commencing at 8.00am AEST.

Seven's live and free broadcast will kick off at 1.00pm AEST on Saturday October 29 on Channel 7mate.

Sunday’s coverage from the Gold Coast starts at 11.30am AEST on Channel 7, 7mate and 7plus will include Supercars final race on the streets of Surfers Paradise.

Gate opening times

Gates will open and close to the public at the following times across the weekend:

  • Friday, 28 October 2022 - 9am

  • Saturday, 29 October 2022 - 8am

  • Sunday, 30 October 2022 - 7am

Supercars Members receive early entry (30 minutes) each day, at GATE 1 ONLY, by flashing their Supercars Member card. 

Biggest ever crashes on the Gold Coast

Public transport

The best way to travel to the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 event is by public transport as parking is limited in areas surrounding the event.

Customers who are in possession of pre-purchased event entry ticket or hold official accreditation passes to the GC500 event can travel free to and from the event on the G: Link Trams, Surfside buses and Queensland Rail City Network trains from Friday 28 October 2022 until Sunday 30 October 2022 (inclusive).

Free travel is also available for children 12 and under who are accompanying an adult holding an event ticket or accreditation pass. Free travel is only valid for the date shown on the ticket or official accreditation pass.

Children must download a ticket to ride public transport with an accompanying adult.

All traffic changes during event week – including a full list of road closures - will be available closer to the event.

If you choose to drive to the event be aware that major events can cause traffic delays.

Make sure you plan your journey accordingly and prepare for any delays or restrictions that may be in place.   

If you are coming by car, please be aware the parking in the surrounding areas is limited to 2 hours and this will be strictly enforced. We highly recommend travel by public transport.

Accessible Viewing Facilities 

Dedicated accessibility viewing platforms are attended by volunteers throughout the event and allow access to those patrons and one (1) companion.

These areas are located in stands 10 and 18. Please refer to the Event Track Map.

Patrons must have a general admission Wheelchair Access/Carer ticket to access this area. Please call 132 849 to book.

Davison amped for 'crazy' Gold Coast atmosphere

Please be courteous when queuing for entry/exit, for food and beverages, or for merchandise purchases.

Please use the sanitiser stations available to you at key entry and exit points.

Otherwise, as with all events, patrons must not attend if feeling unwell.

Cars will hit the track for Practice 1 at 12:35pm local time/1:35pm AEDT on Friday.

The Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 will be held 28-30 October and broadcast live on Fox Sports and the Seven Network. Tickets are on sale now.
