Erebus Motorsport drivers Will Brown and Brodie Kostecki have firmly cast their gaze to Sunday after dual disappointment in Race 23 in Sydney.

Brown and Kostecki were classified 11th and 23rd respectively in the ARMOR ALL Sydney SuperNight opener, which was won by Shane van Gisbergen.

Brown launched from a maiden ARMOR ALL Pole Position and led early on, only to lose time in his pit stop due to a broken wheel nut retainer.

Kostecki, who started fifth, dropped out of the fight for the podium after he was hit with a drive-through penalty for speeding in pit lane.

At the time, Kostecki was battling with Will Davison, who finished third.

Not again! Brown's horror pit stop

“Cars have been fast again, so that’s a big plus for the team,” Kostecki said.

“Will qualified on pole and I started fifth, and I only used one set of Softs to get through.

“If the weather holds up, we’ll be in good shape for tomorrow.

“Unfortunately in the race, I sped in pit lane; a bit of a dummy on my behalf. I have to learn from it and push on tomorrow.

“We’ll see what the weather plays.”

'Bloody disappointing': Brown reacts to another pit blunder

Brown lost out in Sydney last weekend after another botched pit stop.

He would fight hard and loomed to finish in the top 10, but the 23-year-old couldn’t hide his disappointment.

However, with a maiden pole in the bag and with both cars in a smart operating window, Brown believes the luck will turn for Erebus.

“To start on that pole and battle Whincup was pretty cool,” Brown said.

“I wasn’t going to let him have it at Turn 2, so we rubbed a bit.

“Disappointing pit stop, but that’s motorsport… we’ll come back hard tomorrow.

“We’ve got a fast car. Really happy with the team and the speed we’ve got in the cars."

Cars will return to the track on Sunday for Race 24 qualifying at 2:30pm AEDT.

Race 24 will commence at 4:35pm, with the floodlit Race 25 to follow at 7:30pm.

Tickets for all Sydney events are on sale now.
