Erebus Motorsport team owner Betty Klimenko kicked off her V8 Supercar season today with a $50,000 donation to the Children’s Hospital at Westmead.

Klimenko presented the cheque to Westmead’s Corporate Partnership Manager Phoebe Cunningham on the starting grid at Sydney Motorsport Park, during today’s sydney.com V8 Supercars Test Day.  “Like all the other V8 Supercar teams, we’d normally hold a big corporate launch event to reveal our cars and our plans for the year,” Klimenko explained. “Instead, I wanted to invest the money that we would have spent into something that has wider benefits for the whole community and in particular, the ‘next generation’ of Australians, so I am delighted to provide this donation to the Children’s Hospital at Westmead. “Our children are our future, many of them will be V8 Supercar fans of the future too, and I can only applaud what Westmead does in its care and rehabilitation of sick kids.” Klimenko made the generous donation on behalf of her family and the Erebus Motorsport team. To further lend its support, the Erebus Motorsport #4 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG racer of Lee Holdsworth carried prominent Westmead Hospital branding at today’s test.

Holdsworth, new teammate Will Davison and Erebus Motorsport CEO Ryan Maddison joined Betty on the grid for the cheque presentation.

“Betty is a very caring and generous person and the whole team is right behind this donation, it’s hard to think of a better cause and better use of the money than supporting children in need,” Holdsworth said.

The V8 Supercars are now on track for the final session of the day, which is free for fans to attend.
