Drivers will be permitted to carry out practice starts following Practice 2 at this weekend's Repco Mt Panorama 500.

Drivers haven't raced in anger since last October's Bathurst 1000, with the majority of co-drivers starting the race.

Last year, co-drivers performed practice starts during the Bathurst 1000 weekend, making for an entertaining spectacle on the starting grid.

It came with the mountain hosting the only endurance race of the 2020 season.

Practice starts will be permitted following Practice 2 on Friday afternoon, with the session scheduled to end at 1705 AEDT.

The further supplementary regulations lead with Rule 1.1.1, which states: "For this Event, a practice start will be permitted at the end of Practice 2 (scheduled 1705 – 1720hrs, Friday, 26 February 2021).

Rule 1.1.1.1 continues: "Any Car that takes the chequered flag on the track, may then complete another lap and, instead of entering the pit lane, they can proceed to the grid, stop and then carry out a practice start.

Rule 1.1.1.3 adds: "All Drivers carrying out a practice start may only do so in the order which they arrive to the grid and by pulling as far forward on the grid as possible."

Each driver must wait for another car ahead to carry out a start before moving to a grid position further forward.

Rule 1.1.1.5 also clarifies that under no circumstances should a driver make a practice start if another car is still stationary in front of them.

Cars will hit the track on Friday for opening practice of the Repco Mt Panorama 500. Tickets are on sale now.

This weekend’s event will be broadcast live on Foxtel and the Seven Network, and will be streamed on Kayo. Check out the full TV schedule here.
