Anton De Pasquale continued on his merry way at Sydney Motorsport Park with pole and victory on Saturday.

The Shell V-Power Racing Team driver claimed his fifth pole and fourth win in the 2021 Sydney swing.

De Pasquale helped himself to his fifth win of 2021, with four of them coming at SMSP.

The 26-year-old now has as many SMSP wins as effective predecessor Scott McLaughlin.

Ahead are Mark Skaife (10), Marcos Ambrose (seven), Glenn Seton and Shane van Gisbergen (six), and Craig Lowndes and Jamie Whincup (five).

De Pasquale is now just 66 points behind fifth-placed Cameron Waters - who was classified 22nd after a mid-race crash - in the drivers' standings.

After Darwin, De Pasquale was 302 points behind Waters.

In the fight for the Beaurepaires Sydney Cup, De Pasquale is now just 32 points behind van Gisbergen, with Will Davison 56 points in arrears.

Five drivers - van Gisbergen, De Pasquale, Davison, Whincup and Will Brown - are covered by 91 points.

Van Gisbergen claimed his 20th podium from 26 starts in 2021. He is now two clear of his 2016 haul of 18; he also record 17 podiums in 2018.

His series lead over Whincup is now 349 points. Whincup started second and finished fourth, having been overtaken by Brown at the death.

Brown scored his second career podium and Erebus Motorsport's fourth of the season.

Brown is now just 90 points behind seventh-placed Nick Percat in the drivers' standings.

Percat was the biggest loser in the race; he dropped 15 positions and was classified 23rd. Waters lost 13 positions.

Matt Stone Racing driver Zane Goddard was the big mover; he gained 10 positions and brought home his second best career finish of eighth.

Goddard finished seventh at Symmons Plains in April.

Cars will return to the track on Sunday for consecutive qualifying sessions from 11:45am AEDT.

Race 27 will commence at 1:30pm, followed by Race 28 at 4:45pm.
