Will Davison is determined to replicate Shell V-Power Racing Team speed shown at The Bend last year.

Shell V-Power Fords featured on all three race podiums, highlighted by a one-two finish in the first Sunday race.

If not for an engine drama for Anton De Pasquale in the finale, the team could have swept Sunday poles and wins.

There is far more at stake for the team this time round, with the deficit in the teams’ championship just 10 points.

The Ford team took the lead from Red Bull Ampol Racing in Darwin, only for the latter to snatch it back in Townsville.

Mark Skaife and Craig Lowndes have both tipped Ford success, while Cam Waters has played down a Mustang advantage.

For Davison, results are the most priceless commodity.

“When we look at it on paper, it suits our car,” Davison said.

“It was the scene of our first one-two qualifying and race result as a team last year with Anton and I.

“It was only our fourth event last year, we were still coming to terms with the car.

“That’s a magic result we look back on. We’ve obviously stepped it up this year.

“We’re definitely excited to get back to The Bend and see if we can replicate last year.”

Davison and De Pasquale have already won races in 2022, and are fourth and second overall respectively.

Mustangs have won 10 of the last 11 races at The Bend, and 10 of the last 11 poles.

Davison, who is a big fan of the Grand Prix-style circuit, cited set-up as key to mastering the South Australian venue.

“It’s quite demanding on getting set-up right,” Davison said of 4.95km circuit.

“The grip level’s quite high, but when the grip goes, it goes quite suddenly.

“You’ve got to attack the circuit, it’s got a bit of everything in it.

“Technical triple-apex corners, slow-speed stuff.

“It rewards attacking, but being very smooth as well.”
