Davison vs Courtney - Race 4 Contact

Erebus driver Will Davison was livid after being turned around on the first lap at the notorious turn four hairpin at the Tyrepower Tasmania SuperSprint.

Replays show contact between James Courtney's Holden Racing Team Commodore and the E63, running third and fourth at the time, with Davison the big loser, turning around and falling back down the order.

Davison headed straight to the HRT garage post-race, but Courtney claimed to have been hit from behind by Chaz Mostert in the incident.

The heated exchange included Davison saying, "I can't wait to be behind you next time," and Courtney telling him to "go look at the vision and come back and apologise".

Davison then slammed the Championship leader, calling him arrogant and the situation a shame.

"Apparently I've got to look at the vision - but I don't care, I've had my race ruined by someone just being silly, someone in a position like him," Davison said.

"Maybe he was hit from behind; I reckon he's hit me, and then he's been hit from behind, because every time the guy's near me he's just got to drill me, he just cannot help himself [and] be smart and sensible.

"For someone in his position right now to drive like that - this is a big weekend for us and it wasn't even an attempt at passing move it was just a complete stuff up.

"He's telling me to have a cry and I'll be right - the arrogance on the bloke's just pathetic, I feel sorry for him.

"So we were going to race clean and had a great start and I've been turfed. I've got a fair idea of what happened, I mean, I seriously don't know what he was thinking.

"He's always just got to rub me up and he thinks it intimidates me but it's just a shame, it's just not what you want to see up the front."

Davison has featured at the front in each session at the Tyrepower Tasmania SuperSprint, and clearly had been hoping for a strong finish that race.

"It's just a shame, it's not what you want for our guys, Betty, and it's a big deal for us."

While Courtney said he sympathised with Davison after the coming together, he was adamant Mostert was also involved in the incident.

"I was drilled in the back from Mostert that's pushed me into him," Courtney said.

"He's the one that spun around - I can understand his agro, but I just said, look mate have a look at the vision and come back and you're yelling at the wrong guy here.

"But I can understand he's upset, they've been struggling for pace and to have that happen is upsetting for him."

The Stewards, minutes ago, deemed the contact a racing incident, with no breach of the rules established.
