Davison brothers Will and Alex will again set sail on a maiden Great Race victory together.

Older brother Alex will partner Will in the #17 Shell V-Power Racing Team Mustang.

It will be their sixth Bathurst together, and second in the famous #17.

No pair of brothers has won the Supercars (five-litre) Bathurst 1000.

Brabham brothers Geoff and David won the 1997 AMP 1000 for Super Tourers (two-litre).

The best brothers result in a Supercars Great Race came in 2006, when Rick and Todd Kelly finished second.

The Kelly brothers would also combine for their own team in 2009.

Most bizarre and controversial Bathurst moments ever

Brock brothers Peter and Phil finished third in 1976, and fourth a year later.

The Davisons first combined in an Erebus Mercedes in 2014, and returned in 2015.

Alex joined Will in the 23Red Ford in 2018 and 2019; their best finish together in fourth in 2014.

The Davisons raced to 10th last December, but Will's 2022 form has the #17 a firm contender for this year's win.

Will, who turned 40 last month, has won three races and taken nine poles this season.

The two-time Bathurst winner was on track to make it four wins last time out in the New Zealand finale.

However, drama in the pit consigned Davison to another near-miss - but his speed was obvious.

The Davisons won’t be the only brother pairing, with Jake Kostecki joined by Kurt in the #56 TRADIE Tickford entry.

The Kosteckis first paired up last year for Matt Stone Racing, and became the 22nd pair of brothers to race in Bathurst.

The Davison brothers will be buoyed by father Richard’s recent success in Formula Ford.

Richard, son of late racing legend Lex, won the Victorian Formula Ford title (1600/Kent class) at the weekend.

Davison senior swept the round in class at Phillip Island to win the title, complete in Alex’s livery.

Will used the car to win the 2000 state title.

"Couldn’t be more proud of my Dad for winning the Victorian Formula Ford Title for 1600 Kent cars over the weekend," Will tweeted.

"22 years since I won the same series in the same car.

"Seeing Dad out there driving so well and showing so much passion means a lot to us, he’s loving every moment."

The Shell V-Power Racing Team will unveil a tribute livery for Bathurst on Monday.

Dick Johnson Racing will celebrate its 1000th ATCC/Supercars race in Bathurst.

Tickets for the Repco Bathurst 1000 are available on Supercars.com and Ticketek.
