How co-drivers fared on ride day

A Perth ride day has doubled as crucial track time for co-drivers in preparation for Bathurst.

A number of Super2 drivers and Supercars veterans turned out in Perth on Monday.

Among the talent were Walkinshaw Andretti United recruit Fabian Coulthard and Tickford junior Zak Best.

Coulthard's first steer of a WAU Commodore came back at Winton's pre-season test in February.

The Kiwi has yet to be assigned to a car, but was keen to acquaint himself to WAU machinery.

"The car is still a little bit foreign to me," Coulthard told Supercars.com.

"The beauty about Nick and Chaz is that we're all similar build and height, so it works.

"Barbagallo's a great track; lots of undulation, so it's interesting for a passenger in a ride sense."

Warren Luff joined WAU on Monday, with Kurt Kostecki steering brother Jake's TRADIE Mustang.

Aaron Seton also steered Matt Stone Racing machinery; the son of legend Glenn races for MSR in Super2.

Best took to Cam Waters' Monster Mustang; he will make his solo debut as a wildcard in Perth.

The Victorian will again take to his wildcard in Tailem Bend after the next Super2 round in Townsville.

Best, like Coulthard, has yet to be assigned to a car; he will make his second Great Race start in October.

"A few more laps in a Mustang is always good," Best told Supercars.com.

"It's always good to get valuable miles in any Supercar.

"Mustang is my next round, the wildcard in Darwin, I'm really looking forward to that.

"Everything helps... the aero's the biggest difference, just adapt to the Mustang."

This year's Repco Bathurst 1000 will be held on October 6-9.
