The Gen3 Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro Supercars will carry out a comprehensive VCAT (Vehicle Control Aerodynamic Testing) next week.

The VCAT is planned to run from 7-11 November at Wellcamp Airport near Toowoomba on the two prototypes.

In June, a preliminary VCAT was held at the same venue prior to the release of the new-look Mustang which was officially revealed at last month’s Repco Bathurst 1000.

The VCAT will measure and set the aerodynamic parity between the new-look Mustang and all-new Camaro ahead of their race debut in March 2023 in Newcastle.

Test dates for all Supercars teams, using their own new cars will be confirmed following next week’s VCAT.

"The Gen3 Mustang and Camaro prototypes have already completed an extensive testing program of over 10,000kms throughout 2022," Supercars Head of Motorsport Adrian Burgess said.

Aero testing was carried out in June

“The cars have been taken to several different circuits and airstrips, using all of the current full time drivers, as teams now start to build their own race cars.

“The weather forecast looks promising, and we’re confident we will achieve what we need to next week at VCAT.”

PACE Innovations is in the process of sending chassis to teams.

Brad Jones Racing received the first chassis back in August along with nine other chassis now delivered to teams.

The new Gen3 Mustang was revealed in Bathurst last month before Ford legend and Supercars Hall of Fame inductee Dick Johnson turned its first laps.

The new Ford took to Mount Panorama with the Camaro Supercar, will which replace Holden’s Commodore on the grid.

The 2023 Repco Supercars Championship will commence with the Newcastle 500 from 10-12 March, 2023.

Tickets for the Newcastle event, the first of the Gen3 era, are on sale now through Supercars.com and Ticketek.com.

The 2022 Repco Supercars Championship will conclude on the Adelaide streets in December.
