Session-ending shunt for Courtney

Tickford Racing is lining up for an evening of repairs after a practice crash for James Courtney.

Courtney incurred front-end damage to his Snowy Rivers Caravans Ford midway through Practice 2.

The 2010 champion pinched a brake and ran long into the Turn 10 barriers.

It came after Bryce Fullwood swiped the same barriers in the earlier session.

Courtney managed to return his damaged car to the lane.

“As I got in, I snagged the front-left corner,” Courtney explained.

“It’s very unforgiving, not a lot of run-off there. It’s disappointing.

“A bit of work for the guys right now."

It came after Courtney vaulted to third in Practice 1 behind Chaz Mostert and Will Brown.

Courtney was 18th at the time of his crash, and ended up 24th by session's end.

Shane van Gisbergen paced the session ahead of Andre Heimgartner and Anton De Pasquale.

Courtney, who is 10th in the standings, was frustrated to hand his mechanics a first-day repair job.

“It was going good then,” he continued.

“The speed was good, we had a bit of traffic and stuff throughout that session.

“We were about to pit then and put greens on and go.

“It’s disappointing, but we'll see how we go."

Cars will return to the track on Saturday for ARMOR ALL Qualifying.
