Coulthard rotates livery for Darwin

World leading coatings and specialty products company PPG will launch a new branding era when it highlights its Taubmans paint brand with DJR Team Penske.

The brand will feature on Fabian Coulthard’s Ford Falcon FG X at the next Virgin Australia Supercars Championship event in Darwin.

It will be the first time PPG pushes its brand into the retail space, featuring on the #12 Supercar.

PPG has been an associate sponsor of Team Penske for over 30 years – this announcement demonstrates the synergy between the Australian Supercars team and the USA-based NASCAR and Indy Car teams.

PPG was at the forefront of producing a special Xbox ‘green’ for the DJR Team Penske’s assault on the 2015 Pirtek Enduro Cup and has been the primary paint supplier to Dick Johnson Racing for many years.

DJR Team Penske managing director Ryan Story explained the connection between the organisations.

“PPG have been a great partner to both Dick Johnson Racing and Team Penske for over three decades,” Story said.

“The partnership has grown further since the launch of DJR Team Penske and we not only see innovation at the race team level with paint and coatings, but the Penske Transportation Group International here in Australia and New Zealand have forged strong commercial links.

“Taubmans was the paint of choice for the refurbishment of our team’s workshop so it is exciting to be part of the new corporate strategy launch with Fabian’s car in Darwin.”

Taubmans head of sales Jon Matthews added: “For many years PPG has been a strong brand in our trade based refinish and panel shop market, but the strength and innovation of the brand is not known at a consumer or retail level.

“By joining the 100-year old Taubmans brand with the ‘by PPG’ tagline we believe there is a great corporate synergy.

The CrownBet Triple Crown Darwin is the next event on the 2016 Supercars calendar and runs from June 17-19.

DJR Team Penske will be on track at Queensland Raceway tomorrow for a test day.
