Fabian Coulthard tops the times, as the clock ticks down to the final hour.

The Lockwood Racing Commodore delivered a 1min30.4787 at the sydney.com V8 Supercars Test Day, the fans’ first opportunity to see cars on-track in their 2014 colours, and the chance for teams to check out their competitors.

Beneath Coulthard in second place is former teammate David Wall, now with Dick Johnson Racing, although there is a question whether the 1min30.6896 lap recorded is valid.

Todd and Rick Kelly continue to be consistent in the Jack Daniel’s Nissan Altimas, with Craig Lowndes edging into the top five.

James Courtney, Shane van Gisbergen, Jason Bright, Michael Caruso and Dale Wood are also in the top 10, all in the 1min31sec bracket.

Others to note include the fourth Nissan, James Moffat’s Norton Hornet, in 11th today’s quickest in session one, Russell Ingall 14; the first Erebus machine, Lee Holdsworth in 15th, 2013 Champion Jamie Whincup in 16; Ford Pepsi Max Crew pilots Chaz Mostert and Mark Winterbottom 17 and 18; and HRT’s Garth Tander 20th.

The two Volvos continue to test, with Scott McLaughlin 19 and Robert Dahlgren in 25th.

Scott Pye suffered steering issues earlier in the session, his Wilson Security Racing Ford in the garage, though the team was hopeful of tweaking it and sending the young gun out again before the end of the day.
