V8 Supercars has announced this year's Coates Hire Sydney 500 will be the final event at Sydney Olympic Park.

CEO James Warburton said V8 Supercars would mark the finale with special family ticket offers, including free general admission for all fans on the Friday of the event.

"We want to give something back to all the fans who have been part of the event at Sydney Olympic Park since 2009 in what we hope will be a fitting finale," he said.

Warburton said the 2016 event would be moved from November 25-27 to December 2-4 to avoid a scheduling clash with other events at Sydney Olympic Park.

"We apologise to our fans for any inconvenience but we want to do everything we can to ensure this is one of the biggest events on the 2016 calendar," he said.

With Sydney Olympic Park in the final year of its contract to host the race, Warburton said V8 Supercars were considering options for locations for the 2017 finale.

"We are continuing discussions with Destination NSW about the best location for 2017 and beyond but we believe the time is right to move from Sydney Olympic Park," he said.

V8 Supercars would again offer the Grandstand Superpass in conjunction with the Wests Tigers, GWS GIANTS, Sydney Thunder and Sydney Showgrounds.

Member of these clubs can gain free entry to the Coates Hire Sydney 500 while V8 Supercars fans who purchase a Grandstand Superpass will gain free entry to a West Tigers, GWS GIANTS and Sydney Thunder game as well as access to the 2017 Royal Easter Show.
