It will be Holden versus Ford, Craig Lowndes versus Mark Winterbottom off the line for the final race of the Perth 400.

Red Bull racer Lowndes claimed his second ARMOR ALL Pole Position of the weekend by just 0.02sec over his Pepsi Max rival with a 55.22sec lap around Barbagallo Raceway - and now the two Championship leaders will face off on the front row in the afternoon's 200km race.

"I'm really looking forward to this arvo's race," Lowndes said after getting out of his Commodore.

Meanwhile teammate Jamie Whincup has had more drama in the session. While on a fast lap in the final minutes, he caught Dale Wood, and had to abort the lap. He still found himself sixth in the tally.

Volvo rookie Robert Dahlgren was impressive, to start fromeighth -his best qualifying resultin V8 Supercars.

His teammate Scott McLaughlin came home third and will start alongside old Dunlop Series foe Chaz Mostert on the second row.

James Courtney - who leads Whincup in the Championship by a mere two points - starts alongside the #1, with Fabian Coulthard, Dahlgren, Jason Bright and David Reynolds completing the top 10.

Both Erebus Mercs were close behind with Lee Holdsworth 11 and Will Davison 12, the first Nissan was Rick Kelly in 16, and New Zealand race winner Shane van Gisbergen 19 after an off-track excursion at turn seven earlier in the session.
