Dean Canto has played down brushing the tyres in the final co-driver session at the Castrol EDGE Gold Coast 600.

The Bottle-O team is checking the Falcon FG after Canto scraped the tyres at the exit of turn three. But the 34-year old was candid about the incident, and said the car was all good.

"Just a few scratches!" he laughed.

"I scratched it. I hit the tyre bundles on the exit of the first chicane, which everyone usually does - I just hit it a bit harder than some ... We didn't even move the wheel alignment; they are just double checking it."

Canto, driving with David Reynolds, agreed he was just testing his limits.

"I pushed probably a little too hard about three or four kilometres too hot in the corner and by the time I realised I thought 'yeah, I'm going to make it', just brushed it."

Canto finished the session 22nd on a circuit where he won with David Reynolds last year.

But the devastation of last round Bathurst is what is driving him to push harder this weekend.

"After Bathurst we're pretty hungry to take home a result ... I think it's going to be more competitive this year than last year."

The day's last practice session is open for all drivers and begins at 3.30pm local time.
