Stewards Summary Update FINAL: issued Sunday 5th March 2017 at 1915hrs.

Matters from Race 2:

  • A Pit Lane Penalty was issued to Car #78, Simona de Silvestro, for having continued to overuse the kerbs at Turn 2 in breach of Schedule B2 Rule 8.5.1 after receiving a Bad Sportsmanship Flag.

  • Following the session the DRD conducted an investigation into a suspected breach of Schedule B2 Rule 2.1 (Careless Driving) by the Driver of Car #22, James Courtney, arising out of an Incident between Turns 13 and 14 on Lap 43 when Car #22 made contact with Car #78, Simona de Silvestro, causing Car #78 to spin. The DRD determined that the matter did not warrant referral to the Stewards. The affected Competitors were notified of the DRD’s determination.

Matters from Top Ten Shootout Race 2:

  • Nil.

Matters from Qualifying Race 2:

  • After the conclusion of the session, the DRD conducted an investigation into a suspected breach of Schedule B2 Rule 2.1 (Careless Driving) by the Driver of Car #2, Scott Pye, specifically, blocking Car #56 on entry to Turn 8 during one of Car #56’s flying laps. Following an admission to a Breach of the Rules by the Driver of Car #2, the Stewards imposed a Penalty of loss of two (2) Grid Spots on the Driver of Car #2 to be served in Race #2.

  • After the conclusion of the session, the DRD conducted an investigation into a suspected breach of Schedule B2 Rule 2.1 (Careless Driving) by the Driver of Car #78, Simona de Silvestro, specifically, blocking Car #8 on entry to Turn 1 during one of Car #8’s flying laps. Following an admission to a Breach of the Rules by the Driver of Car #78, the Stewards imposed a Penalty of loss of two (2) Grid Spots on the Driver of Car #78 to be served in Race #2 and future Supercars Championship Races until served.

Stewards Summary Update #2: issued Saturday 4rd March 2017 at 2130hrs.

Matters from Race 1:

  • A Pit Lane Penalty was issued to Car #17, Scott McLaughlin, for excessive sideways movement after the Safety Car lights were extinguished in breach of Rule D11.2.11.

  • A Pit Lane Penalty was issued to Car #9, David Reynolds, for having continued to overuse the kerbs at Turn 2 in breach of Schedule B2 Rule 8.5.1 after receiving a Bad Sportsmanship Flag.

  • Following an investigation by the DRD and an admission of breach, the Stewards imposed a Penalty of loss of thirty five (35) 2017 Supercars Championship Points on the Driver of Car #7, Todd Kelly, for a breach of the Driving Standards - Reckless Driving (Schedule B2 Rule 2.2) following contact between Car #7 and Car #19, Will Davison, at Turn 8 on Lap 1.

  • The ST&D having found during end of Race Parc Ferme that an SD card was not installed in the Video Capture System in Car #8 in Race #1 in breach of Rule B3.2, the Stewards imposed a Penalty of loss of ninety (96) 2017 SupercarsTeams Championship Points on Brad Jones Racing and a Fine of $10,000 (of which $7,500 is suspended until 31 December 2017).

  • The DRD conducted an Investigation into an Incident on Lap 44 involving contact between Car #88, Jamie Whincup, and Car #5, Mark Winterbottom, at Turn 4 and determined that the matter did not warrant being referred to the Stewards because the evidence did not establish to his satisfaction that either Driver was wholly or predominantly to blame for the Incident - Schedule B2 (Code of Driving Conduct) Rule 8.2. The affected Competitors were notified of the DRD’s determination and no Protest was received. The Stewards decided to accept the DRD’s determination.

Matters from Qualifying – Race 1:

  • Following the session the DRD conducted an investigation into a suspected breach of Schedule B2 Rule 2.1 (Careless Driving) by the Driver of Car #2, Scott Pye, specifically, blocking Cars #33 at Turns 1 and 2, and determined that the matter did not warrant referral to the Stewards.

Matters from Practice – Part 2:

  • Following the session the DRD conducted an investigation into a suspected breach of Schedule B2 Rule 2.1 (Careless Driving) by the Driver of Car #99, Dale Wood, specifically, blocking Cars #14 and #3 at Turn 14, and determined that the matter did not warrant referral to the Stewards.

Matters from Practice – Part 1:

  • Following an investigation by the DRD, the Driver of Car #62, Alex Rullo, who admitted to a contravention of Rule D3.1.4 (crossing the Control Line more than once at the end of the session), the Stewards imposed a five (5) minute Time Penalty to be served at the Start of Practice Part 2 with Car #62 to remain stationary in its Pit Bay with no work to be undertaken on the Car while the Penalty is served.
