Kelly Grove Racing has confirmed that Matt Campbell will combine with Andre Heimgartner for the 2021 Repco Bathurst 1000.

The team moved quickly to announce Campbell, who will replace Earl Bamber.

Bamber was ruled out of his Bathurst appearance due to scheduling conflicts.

Campbell will share the #7 Ned Whisky Mustang with Heimgartner, who will make his final start for the team at Mount Panorama.

Former Carrera Cup champion Campbell is no stranger to Mount Panorama; the 2021 race will be his third Great Race start.

He is also no stranger to the Braeside team; Campbell made his Bathurst debut alongside Todd Kelly in 2016.

In 2017, Campbell earned the plumb co-drive alongside Shane van Gisbergen at Triple Eight Race Engineering.

If not for a late series of offs for van Gisbergen, Campbell may well have won the Great Race at his second attempt.

He later scored a Gold Coast podium with van Gisbergen.

Campbell has also won the Bathurst 12 Hour twice in class, and won overall with Earl Bamber Motorsport in 2019.

He has also won the 24 Hours of Dubai and the 24 Hours of Le Man in GTE Am Class in 2018.

Team co-owner Stephen Grove was delighted to lock in Campbell, who will join Kelly Grove Racing in Sydney in mid-November.

"Once it was confirmed Earl couldn't make the event due to the conflict in his racing schedule, it was vital that we found somebody of a very high calibre to replace Earl, and we know we have that in Matt Campbell,” Grove explained.

"We’re all very excited to have him come back and race with us at the Bathurst 1000.”

Campbell will make his third Great Race start on December 5.

Tickets for all four Sydney events are on sale now.
