Will Brown has taken full responsibility for his spin into the wall while battling Chaz Mostert in the Albert Park finale.

Brown rotated his #9 Coca-Cola Camaro at Turn 12 while fighting Mostert for the Race 6 lead on Sunday.

The Queenslander finished 23rd, two laps down, and dropped to fifth in the championship.

Erebus Motorsport retained its teams’ championship lead, with Brodie Kostecki unseating Mostert at the top of the drivers’ standings.

While disappointed by his own error, Brown was pleased with the team’s overall performance.

“I absolutely threw it away all by myself in that last one,” Brown said.

“So sorry to everyone at Coca-Cola Racing and all of our fans, that was completely my fault.

“Just stuffed up. I’ll learn from it, and will move on to Perth and hopefully go better.

“I’m fifth in the championship now, Brodie’s first, and to be leading the teams’ championship is really good.”

Brown and Kostecki combined to lead Erebus to a breakout weekend on the world stage.

The two scored Erebus’ first front-row lockout, and first double-podium.

The team already had the teams’ championship lead after Newcastle, with Kostecki completing the set with the drivers’ points lead.

“What a weekend it was for the team, so many firsts,” Brown said.

“Starting one-two was one of the those, getting a double podium, Brodie obviously got two wins which was awesome.”

Brown is fifth overall, 131 points behind Kostecki, heading to the next round in Perth.

The 2023 season will resume at the Bosch Power Tools Perth SuperSprint on April 28-30.
