Will Brown was another big surprise from Saturday’s wet qualifying session at the OTR SuperSprint at the Bend Motorsport Park.

Kelly Grove Racing’s Andre Heimgartner clinched ARMOR ALL Pole Position for Race 9, but Brown qualified an outstanding third for the first South Australian showdown.

It marked a jump on Brown’s previous best start of fourth, which he achieved at Symmons Plains last month.

“I thought Symmons Plains was a fluke, but maybe this is too,” Brown joked.

The 22-year-old will share the second row of the grid with Shell V-Power Racing Team driver Anton De Pasquale, the third and final driver to set a time within a second of Heimgartner’s flyer.

His Erebus Motorsport rookie teammate Brodie Kostecki will line up 10th, following "frustrating" tyre management issues during the qualifying session.

Brown praised his team for the set-up of his car.

“This is awesome," Brown beamed.

"The boys gave me a good car, it was really nice to drive in the wet.

“It’s pretty cool to get P3.”

The Repco Supercars Championship field will return for the 24-lap Race 9 at 4:35pm AEST. Check out the full weekend schedule here.

The OTR SuperSprint will be broadcast live on Foxtel and will be streamed on Kayo with highlights on 7 and 7 Plus.
