Tapping into the experience of his first solo main game start is adding to Jordan Boys' growing confidence.

Boys raced a wildcard Image Racing Commodore at last weekend’s Pizza Hut Winton SuperSprint.

The 24-year-old was joined at Winton by fellow wildcard and former Super2 rival Jayden Ojeda.

A strong start saw Boys clock a 1:19.518s in Practice 1, sitting 17th ahead of WAU wildcard Ojeda.

Boys, who finished seventh in the 2021 Dunlop Series, qualified 23rd for his maiden solo race on Saturday.

Critically, he out-qualified veteran Tim Slade by 0.079s.

The Albury-born driver finished all three 36-lap sprints, recording finishes of 24th, 25th and 24th.

Speaking on Supercars' Cool Down Lap podcast, Boys gave his assessment of his first solo taste of the main game.

"The weekend was enjoyable," Boys said.

"Everyone in the team is sort of living it up because it is a good experience for them.

"We have all graduated from Super2 together so there are points we can enjoy, but definitely some disappointments along the way as well."

Boys will return to the seat of the #49 Image Racing Commodore at July’s OTR SuperSprint.

The karting ace, who missed out on a 2021 Bathurst drive, will share the #96 Brad Jones Racing Commodore with Macauley Jones this October.

Until then, Boys will relish his learnings from Winton before he returns to his wildcard entry in Tailem Bend.

"It's pretty busy around here," he said of Winton.

"It was really hard not to make mistakes as well.

"I mean, it's full-on, but to be honest, Super2 is full-on as well.

"It’s elbows out and a fair bit of carnage, so the intensity of the main game was fine.

"But it's hard not to make mistakes in those longer races and that's sort of what happened. I just kept losing the tyres."
