Nine drivers remain in mathematical contention to win the Beaurepaires Sydney Cup.

This weekend's Beaurepaires Sydney SuperNight will be the fourth and final event in the 2021 swing at Sydney Motorsport Park.

Series leader Shane van Gisbergen has been Mr Consistent not only in 2021, but the three Sydney events so far.

Van Gisbergen has claimed seven podiums from nine starts at SMSP; he missed out in the respective final races of the Bunnings Trade Sydney SuperNight and ARMOR ALL Sydney SuperNight.

The Red Bull Ampol Racing driver scored three podiums from as many starts at last weekend's BP Ultimate Sydney SuperSprint, including one by the scant margin of 0.0072s.

It was only the second time in 10 rounds this season that van Gisbergen has failed to win a race.

However, his consistency ensured he finished just two points behind Anton De Pasquale for the weekend.

De Pasquale, who has won five of the nine SMSP races in 2021, is 43 points behind van Gisbergen heading to this weekend's dual 250km-long race weekend.

Jamie Whincup (691 points), Will Brown (649), Will Davison (644), Nick Percat (598), Chaz Mostert (577), Tim Slade (587) and Scott Pye (453) are the other drivers in mathematical contention to win the Sydney Cup and $25,000 cash prize.

Of the nine, only Slade and Pye have failed to record podium finishes at SMSP so far.

Van Gisbergen and Whincup combine for three wins, with Brown recording his maiden Supercars victory on Sunday.

The two races this weekend will feature refuelling, with the Dunlop Super Soft compound to feature in the races. Click here to view the weekend schedule.

Not only has van Gisbergen have the Sydney Cup to lose; the championship leader has the first 'match point' in the race for the 2021 title.

Van Gisbergen leads teammate Whincup by 337 points. Only four drivers - van Gisbergen, Whincup, Davison and Mostert - can win the 2021 Repco Supercars Championship.

However, with Davison and Mostert 529 and 595 points behind respectively, the 2021 crown is all but certain to be heading to Red Bull Ampol Racing.

The 2021 Repco Supercars Championship will resume this weekend at the Beaurepaires Sydney SuperNight.

Every session of the event will be broadcast live on Foxtel (Fox Sports 506) and streamed on Kayo.

The Seven Network will provide live free to air coverage of the event.

Tickets for the event are on sale now.
