Michael Caruso is always keen to hear what the fans have to say, and is looking forward to this evening's live chat on v8supercars.com.au.

The Norton Hornet said he would answer as many questions as he can, despite some self-confessed slow typing.

"I think it's a good opportunity," he said of the live chat.

"Obviously at the circuit, the fans who make the trip out always come up with cool questions and ask what's going on. So it's good, the chat gives everybody an opportunity to get online and thrown some questions at me and I'll do my best to answer as many as I can."

He's often asked what the drivers do between race meetings and complimented his fans as being knowledgeable about V8 Supercars. But one of the big questions, he often can't answer.

"When are you getting updates... We don't control everything in a race team!" he laughed.

Describing himself as happy go lucky and laid-back, Caruso splits his time between racing and spending time with his wife Danielle and one-year old daughter Lola."I've got a young family so keeping very busy at home as well, so it's usually go, go, go."

While there is a five-week break between last event the Perth 400 and upcoming SKYCITY Triple Crown in Darwin, running from June 20-22, it has still been a busy time for V8 Supercars teams, with the majority of them having tested earlier this week.

Nissan Motorsport had the Norton Hornets and Jack Daniel's racers on-track at Winton on Monday and Caruso was hopeful the team would have found a bit more for Darwin later this month.

"We went through a lot and these few days after are about evaluating and going over everything from the day because over four cars we get through quite a bit. So, I guess, (it's about) understanding that and seeing what direction that puts us in.

"Hopefully we've got some more improvements for Darwin in a few weeks."

The highlight of Caruso's 2014 has so far been nabbing ARMOR ALL Pole Position at the Australian Grand Prix event - his first in V8 Supercars, with second at Winton his best last year in the Nissan - and finishing the event third overall behind Scott McLaughlin and Craig Lowndes.

Since then there has been the top five finish in the valuable 200km dash at the ITM 500 Auckland, and while that hasn't yet been a consistent expectation for Caruso, he is happy sitting 13thin the Championship points, "given the package we have at the moment".

He dismissed any significance in the fact the Norton Nissans were performing better than the 'black' side of the garage.

"Whether the cars are yellow or black they're all identically the same, they all get built next to each other -so that's the advantage of having four cars under one roof and getting something from the test day," he explained.

"We can all test between each other and if one car finds something we can hopefully all use that together...

"It's trucking along. As everybody's aware, we're working pretty hard to get some updates out, whether it be the engine, stuff like that. The guys are doing a good job in the team and I'm sure they're doing the best they can as well... I think as things come along it's only going to help us improve that Championship position."

Head back to v8supercars.com.au at 5pm EST tonight to fire your questions at Caruso, who joins us for a live chat.
