Boost Mobile boss Peter Adderton says he remained committed to making the all-star wildcard happen.

Greg Murphy and Richie Stanaway will race a Boost Mobile-backed Erebus Commodore at October’s Repco Bathurst 1000.

The Kiwi duo were set to race last year, only for travel restrictions to intervene at the eleventh hour.

Four-time Great Race winner Murphy and countryman Stanaway will make a belated return.

Erebus also confirmed the duo will complete three test days, the first coming in June at Winton.

The wildcard was the brainchild of Adderton, who originally floated the idea on social media.

After it picked up traction after overwhelming support from fans, Erebus and Boost Mobile made it happen.

Adderton was adamant the wildcard wouldn’t be a one-and-done deal.

“We were never going to give up,” Adderton said.

“We were always going to make it happen for Murph, Richie, and the Supercars fans.

"The story is not over for Richie and Murph to take on the mountain and it’s something you don’t want to miss.

"Last year we jumped over every hurdle thrown at us and although in the end border restrictions made it impossible for 2021.

“The whole team at Erebus, Boost and the drivers were committed to making it work in 2022.”

The #51 Boost Mobile Commodore will first hit the track on June 7 at Winton.

It marks a four-month lead-in to the Great Race, with Adderton keen to see the Kiwi stars finally steer the car.

"The benefit of this year will be that Murph and Richie will have three test days prior to the big race which will allow them to fine-tune their skills and the setup with the team,” Adderton said.

"This idea came to fruition because of the fans so we encourage everyone to come on the journey with us and celebrate Murph and Richie back at the mountain.”

This year’s Repco Bathurst 1000 will be held on October 6-9.
