The 2022 Repco Supercars Championship will feature a 25-car grid, with Tickford Racing expanding to a four-car operation.

The tender process for the two extra Racing Entitlements Contracts (REC) has concluded, with Tickford successful in its bid.

Supercars launched the market tender for the two RECs in April.

Tickford will again run a four-car model, having reverted back to a three-car operation for the 2021 season.

The 2021 season marked the first time in nine years that the Ford team will run just three cars, having expanded to four entries in 2013.

The 2022 season, which will feature the introduction of the Gen3 rules package, is set to mark the biggest grid since 2018.

A total of 26 cars across 13 teams featured in 2018, with 24 cars currently operating out of 11 teams this season.

"We are delighted to see the grid expand for the 2022 season," Supercars CEO Sean Seamer said.

"We congratulate Tickford on its successful bid, and we wish them luck in their preparation for next season.

"Supercars received interest from several parties to purchase the RECs, proving there is a desire to expand our championship.

"We look forward to seeing more cars on the grid as we welcome Gen3 in 2022."

The Repco Supercars Championship field will return to the Northern Territory this weekend for the Merlin Darwin Triple Crown. Tickets are available here.

The event will be broadcast live on Foxtel and will be streamed on Kayo, and will be broadcast live and free on Seven.
