The first on-air promotions for the 2023 Repco Supercars Championship have aired, with an ‘Old Western' theme set to draw the attention of viewers around the country.

The promotion by the Seven Network, one of Supercars' broadcast partners, highlights the 2022 dominance of two-time defending champion Shane van Gisbergen.

Van Gisbergen is depicted as the driver to chase given his recent run of form.

The New Zealander claimed a record 21 race wins — including the Bathurst 1000 — en route to a third drivers’ title.

Van Gisbergen, who will drive the #97 Red Bull Ampol Camaro in 2023, is backed up by cameo roles from Ford duo Cam Waters and Chaz Mostert in the advertisement.

Waters and Mostert — who shifts to the Blue Oval in 2023 — finished second and third respectively last season.

The ad debuted during prime-time viewing in metropolitan markets on Sunday evening.

Foxtel and Kayo will begin their 2023 promotions in February and March as broadcasters continue to build up to Supercars' new era of racing between the Gen3 Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro.

The first liveries of the 2023 Championship are set to be unveiled this week along with the inaugural shakedowns and testing of the Gen3 cars.

The opening event of the Gen3 era, the Thrifty Newcastle 500, will run March 10-12 on the streets of NSW's second largest city.

Three days of on track action will be supported by two huge nights of concerts featuring eight Australian acts, headlined by Icehouse and Hilltops Hoods.

Tickets are available through Supercars.com and Ticketek.com.
